InterNIC Frequently Asked Questions

How can I protect my domain name with PGP or an encrypted password?

A domain name record is guarded by the administrative and/or technical contact associated with the domain name. Each contact can use the contact template to assign a PGP key or an encrypted password to their user record. Once a contact has associated a PGP key or an encrypted password with their user record, all domains and hosts that the user is a contact for are protected. So if a person is listed as a contact for 10 domains, that person has only to submit a single contact template update and all 10 of his domains will be protected.

See our Guardian/PGP Quick Start guide or our Encrypted Password Generator for step-by-step instructions.
